JEC High Holiday Activities

The Jewish Experience Center is pleased to kick off the new school year by hosting fun holiday activities throughout the month of September:

Rosh Hashanah

Jewish Experience Center’s Birthday Party for
the World:

On Sunday, September 9 from 10:00 AM - Noon the staff of the School of Jewish Studies presents a special Rosh Hashanah program for children ages 5-13. Registration for this year’s SJS and Kadimah sessions will begin that day.

A New Year for Our Keiki: Rabbi Ken invites children ages 2-5 to celebrate Rosh Hashanah on Sunday, September 9 at 11:00 AM.

Yom Kippur

Jewish Experience Center’s “Repairing Relationships on Yom Kippur”: The staff of the School of Jewish Studies will help your child prepare for the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur. The program will take place on Sunday, September 16 from 10:00 AM - Noon for children ages 5-13. Registration for this year’s SJS and Kadima sessions will continue.

Never to Young to Say Sorry”: Even older toddlers and pre-schoolers can learn the importance of saying sorry in time for Yom Kippur. Rabbi Ken invites children ages 2-5 for this experience on Sunday, September 16 at 11:00 AM.

Sukkot

We think of the temporary shelter our ancestors dwelled in during their journey through the wilderness while giving thanks for our homes and looking at what can be done for those who are without a home. On Sunday, September 23 all are welcome to be part of this joyous celebration.

At 4:00 PM the staff of the School of Jewish Studies will lead activities for children ages 5-13.   While these continue, Rabbi Ken will provide an experience for keiki ages 2-5 beginning at 4:30 PM. A family friendly Sukkot service begins at 5:15 PM followed by a BBQ dinner at 6:00 PM featuring “Story Time in the Sukkah.”

Simchat Torah

We bring the marathon of September holidays to a joyous conclusion on Sunday, September 30. At 10:00 AM the staff of SJS leads activities for children ages 5-13 while Rabbi Ken leads a celebration for keiki ages 2-5 at 10:45 AM.  A breakfast nosh at 10:00 AM will be followed at 11:00 AM by a family friendly Simchat Torah celebration.
Enough hands are needed to unfurl a Torah scroll completely around the sanctuary.
